Young Artist Winner, 2006-2007 Season
Morgan Hellyer, Flautist

A ninth grader at Webber Junior High School in Fort Collins, flautist Morgan Hellyer is this year's Loveland Orchestra Young Artist Competition winner.

Morgan's parents are Peter and Christina Hellyer.  Her older sister, Jessica, is a sophomore at Colorado College.

She has been playing the flute since she was in the fourth grade and has been under the private instruction of Liz Jeager.

Morgan participates in honors ensembles, school band, and solo performances in Fort Collins.  She has two loveable golden retrievers whom she loves playing with. In her free time Morgan likes to read, get together with friends, and participates in school sports such as track and cross country.

Morgan is excited to play the Fantasie for you tonight (April 21, 2007). She feels it is an exciting and beautiful piece of music. The first movement expresses haunting emotions and graceful phrases, whereas the second movement captures the listeners with bright and sparkling bursts of passion.

Morgan would like to thank Liz, her band teacher Mr. Underwood, and her family nd friends for their advice and support.

She hopes you enjoy the performance!
